About
Rabbi David Levin
A rabbi, teacher, and chaplain in the Philadelphia area — working from one conviction.

The fundamental core of Judaism is not the self. It is the relationship — between a person and God, a person and community, a person and the self they are still becoming.
Jewish Relationships Initiative Corp is a 501(c)(3) created to reach the Jewish community of Greater Philadelphia and beyond. I seek to create relationships through meaningful connection to Jewish wisdom, ritual, and community — through lifecycle events, study, learning, conversation, and simple presence with one another.
I am a rabbi ordained by the Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion in New York. I am a second-career rabbi: before entering the rabbinate, I built a career in real estate finance and marketing. I returned from my studies in Israel to Philadelphia and to my wife, Naomi.
Where I serve
I am a Fellow with Rabbis Without Borders and serve as President of the Board of Rabbis of Greater Philadelphia. I sit on the Philadelphia JCRC and am active in interfaith and interracial work, sit on the Hillel Board at Temple University, and serve on the Regional Board of Governors of the New Israel Fund.
The Jewish Relationships Initiative is one of two arms of my practice, alongside the Ethical Legacy Will — both gathered under RabbiDavidLevin.org. Different doors into the same work: helping people build lives of meaning through relationship.
